El Parador

El antiguo convento de San Pablo es, desde 1993, el Parador de Turismo de Cuenca. Este Parador no se encuentra en el casco antiguo de la ciudad, está en la otra orilla de la hoz del río Huécar, sobre un risco. Fue mandado construir por el Canónigo Don Juan del Pozo y Pino en 1523. Cuenta la leyenda que "Don Juan tenía un criado negro, excautivo de los moros, al que sus anteriores amos le habían cortado la lengua. Una noche cerrada, unos amigos de lo ajeno, entraron en la casa del Canónigo apoderándose de las bolsas de dinero que poseía en la estancia. El criado, percatándose de los hechos y no pudiendo pedir auxilio, siguió sus pasos siendo testigo de donde depositaban las monedas robadas a su amo. A la mañana siguiente informó con señas de lo sucedido y llevó a Don Juan al sitio donde estaba el dinero. Recuperada la fortuna, su dueño vislumbró que la Providencia le exigía invertir ese dinero en la realización de un convento."
